Rube Goldberg Machine

In science we made a Rube Goldberg Machine. That was.... not fun. Sadly. My group made it out of Lego, cardboard, tape, a stiaphome cup, more tape, lego, tape, and lots of trial and error. A lot of error. And having no idea what we were doing. And some stress thrown in there as well. And lots of fiddly things breaking, then not wanting to go back together. then going together, just to break again three seconds later. Then finding a very simple solution to a problem you've had from the start, in which you have come up with the stupidest solution, that doesn't even work all that well.

Moving on from... that. The simple machines that made up the Rube Goldberg Machine were/are inclined planes ({Read out of the sci-pad} Inclined planes are ramps, and like levers, they reduce the amount of effort needed to lift a load. The steeper the incline the more effort is needed to move the load upwards. Just like Levers if you use a longer, less steep incline to reduce the effort needed, you will need to apply the effort over a longer distance.) And more inclined planes.

Stone Age Essay

In Social studies we have been looking at technology though the ages, and I was looking at the stone age. After we had done all the research, we had to write an essay. Here is mine

During the stone age time period, there were some significant inventions made. Some of these inventions were the Mano and metate, hand axes, and hammer stones. These inventions are still used today, in this day and age.

An important invention seen in the stone age was the Mano and Metate were two stones that were used to grind things up. The metate was a large flat stone, and the Mano was a smaller stone. They used a rocking, grinding/circular or chopping motion to grind up the objects. This was an important invention because it meant they could do things like grind up the stones to make paint, find up grains for advancements in food, and make the earliest forms of medicine. Nowadays it is called mortar and pestle. The mortar is a bowl, typically made out of ceramic, hard wood, hard stone (such as granite) or metal. The Pestle is a heavy and blunt club-shaped object. They are still used for the same thing. This is why this is an important invention of this time period.

Another invention seen in the stone age was the hammer stone. The hammer stone was usually a hard stone which doesn’t break easily. It was made of sandstone, quartzite, or limestone and used for breaking other stones which were converted into other stone tools with sharp edges. This meant that the early men were able to start hunting predators, and start eating meat and not just plants. The hammer stone has evolved over time to the hammer that we know today. Now, instead of just being a hard stone, It is a piece of metal, of varying weights and shapes, on a handle, usually made of wood or plastic. This was another important invention of the stone age

Also seen in the stone age was the hand axe. It was made out of a sharpened stone. To make it they would take a large rock and hit it with their hammer stone until they get their desired shape. They used Hand axes to dig holes, chop wood, catch prey and prepare skins and food. This was the earliest form of a knife, axe, and shovel. Nowadays we use a metal blade, on a handle of wood or durable synthetic materials. This was a significant invention of the stone age.

There were many Significant inventions made in the stone age. Some of the ones disused were the Mano and Metate, the Hammer stone, and the hand axe. These are all commonly seen today, just in different forms and by different names, all around the world and are still very important today.

Catapults

In science we made catapults! we useds spoons popsicle sticks and rubber bands to make them. there was a simple version, the one i did, and a complicated one, the one Thomas did. we fired mini marshmallows into containers worth different points.  I didn't get any in though. I got close though!, pictures coming soon!

Maths - Substitution

In math we have been looking at substitution. Substitution into an equation involves replacing a variable with a number when it is known and then evaluating that equation (calculating the value of the result), It is always important to remember the following
- Always use the correct order of operations - BEDMAS
- One or more variables or numbers next to each other (Such as 3a or xyz) means to multiply them.
- A fraction represents division (Top ÷ bottom)
- Don't forget to replace a variable with it's value every time it appears in the formula.

now that boring stuff is out of the way..... Why are my math blogs my weirdest blogs? Oh well. Welcome, to my head. My logic brain is telling me not to do this, my Crackhead/crazy brain is trying to stop them, by throwing them out a window, my caring brain is trying to catch my logic. My Anxiety is curled up in a corner trying to sleep. My writing/author brain is enjoying this very much, and my fander brain is also enjoying this alot. My weeb brain is trying to make me write about BNHA, and my logic, who has since recovered from being thrown out a window, is trying to stop them.  They have been thrown out the window again. They need to stop doing that, fixing windows is expensive. My ADHD brain is well, pizza. They are now eating said pizza. Now everyone has just crashed and I don't know why. Logic is telling me to stop this and get back to work. Everyone else is shouting at them to stop. They have now thrown him out the window, again. My Mum brain is now patching the cuts on Logic, and then is going to make cookies. Child brain is going to help. My Weeb brain is reading fanfiction now, and is yelling at Hisashi Midoriya for being such a (Censored by Mum) Father. ADHD has finished their pizza and is looking for something to do. My Potterhead brain is waving a stick they found in the garden screaming "EXPELLIARMUS STEVE!" My Half-blood brain is running around with them, how-ever they are waving a trident, and they would tell me where they got it from. Somehow they have also managed to get a Heckpuppy to play with them. Also won't tell me where that came from. Yes this is all happening, I have just learnt to ignore it most of the time. I may do a blog at some point introducing all my different brains. Who knows. We'll see. GOODA BYE!

Difference in food

In Home economics we are looking at the differance in food from when the maoris were the only inhapatance, to when the settlers came, and then now. we made a table on food type, availability, where they sourced the food from, preparation, cooking methods, and technology

(picture is coming soon)

how has food changed in the last 100 years and what have been the big reasons for this change? we are able to have food that is out of session in our country, because of the advancements in technology, being able to ship things and keep them fresh. we have also made a lot more pre-made meals, again due to technology advancements, people working longer hours and not having time to cook.

what was something you didn’t know about changes in Nz Food that you learnt from the cards. I don't know/ think there is anything

what could you see happening to food in another 50 years time? Instant cooking (heating/cooling) less fresh food, it is mostly pre-made things, fresh food is expensive.

what could you invent or change that would create a large impact on how we gather, produce or eat food. I'm not sure. My weeb brain goes, make a Nomu cow or something, basicly a mindless animal, so that we don't feel bad about killing it. My logic brain then tell it to shut up, and that that is a terrible idea and not to do that, because it did not work well in the anime. My weeb brain is arguing that those Nomus were made to fight, to be mindless, strong, unstoppable tools in war, we are just making nomu cows, not tools in war. Just cows. That have no mind so we don't feel bad about killing it. Logic and Weeb are now at war. Logic is winning. Let's move on, and come back to them. Child brain is talking about instant cooking. Random Brain is talking about peanuts for some reason, ADHD brain is helping. Logic has calmed Weeb down, by putting BNHA on the tv. All is calm. everyone has moved to do their own thing, and Realisation Brain realised, we still haven't answered the question
