Final art post

 In this art post, I am going to be talking about the differences/similarity in Giorgio de Chirico's and Tracey Tawhiao's use of grids. I will be using these two pictures as my examples 

In de Chirico's artwork, he uses quite a loose grid. If you overlay a three-by-three grid, you see that some lines/points match up. he also uses unique perspectives. Normally artists have one vanishing point but it looks like de Chirico has at least 3. 

On the other hand, Tracey Tawhio uses quite a strong grid. She works over the top of newspapers, which naturally has a grid, which she can use as a guide for her artworks. 

These are the differences in Giorgio de Chirico's and Tracey Tawhiao's use of grids that I can find.

Tree drawing

In art, we are doing a drawing project in which we have to do two or three drawings relating to our Kopapa or theme. My theme is environment or more specifically looking after trees. Here is my first drawing for this project.

This was based on a photograph I took. this one

And yeah, that's what I have been doing in art. 

Sofia Minson

For this artistic blog post, we are going to be looking at Sofia Minson, another Maori Artist. 

We had to watch this video and take notes. 

Again I will summerise. She is a Maori who takes inspiration from other religions deities  (Egyptian, Hindu, Maori, and Christain) 

This is the original artwork. Its name is Queen of Raa  I think.

The image is of a Maori woman wearing a Religious crown/headpiece, however, it is not a Maori religious crown/headpiece. I think it may be a Hindu headpiece or an Egyptian one, I'm not sure.

A difference between Sofia and Tracey is that Sofia uses a canvas while Tracey uses newspapers as her canvas. Sofia also takes ideas from different mythologies and Tracey uses themes from the newspaper. Tracey also normally works in grids and Sofia works in full-page artworks. 

Again I think this is all I need to do. If not... whoops.

Sofia Minson uses subversion in her work by combining different religions and deities together in her artworks. 

Holidays

 In Wananga class today we had to create a list of what we have done in the holidays in alphabet order. Here is mine

We then had to write what we have done in a paragraph. Again, here is mine (Unfinshed)

In the holidays the first week or so was quite and so there is not much to say apart from the weather was bad, but everyone had that. Christmas was also a quiet affair so again not much to say. We (Mum Dad and me) left for Alexandra on the 29th or 30th of December I think(Rosa would be coming later due to work, and James decided not to come). I know we left a day earlier because the weather was to be bad in Alexandra the next day and since we were camping we didn't want to set up the caravan in the rain. It was a good thing we went when we did because the next day was the beginning of a week of rain. Now you may not know this, but Alexandra usually has an average of 30o every day. And no rain. The complete opposite of what we had. We spent most of the first week in the caravan wrapped up in blankets. We stayed up on new years playing cards with my gran who was also camping with us. 

We had friends come and camp with us on the 2nd of January (Rosa came with them), and we showed them around as they had never been to alex before. It was Rosa and Gran's Birthday on the fourth of January. We opened gifts in the morning. James gave Rosa a very cute dinosaur, who was immediately named it George. we had sushi for lunch and muscles and bacon, chicken hearts and salad for dinner. My younger cousins came at some point within the next week, and stayed for a week. 

We did some four wheel driving at some point. We went up to the Old Man Range in search of snow, but were unsuccessful.
